A February of Focus and Fun!

Painting Online is Popular

This month, the Gig-Arts Sessions of ‘Painting Online with Purpose’ (POP) have enormously boosted the well-being and artistic skills of our artists with dis-abilities. The month kicked off with an array of orange tiger head paintings themed by the Chinese New Year. Next, Valentine’s Day brought us all a flourish of hearts and flower paintings to spread the love. Then with a hint of Spring in the air, our artists enjoyed painting a beautiful bunch of fresh flowers the following week. Finally, to complete the February online festivities, Gig-Arts artists created paintings of bright yellow ‘care emojis’ to say that we care about those around us.

Charity Governance: Meeting of the Board of Trustees

From a governance perspective, the Gig-Arts Board of Trustees met on the 22nd February to discuss present and future strategic plans. Our focus this year is ‘Green’ Gig-Arts with a core message to be sustainable. We will be continuing our zoom art sessions of ‘Painting Online with Purpose’ (POP). We will also be planning a Summer Special live event with outreach across Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire.

Tour of ‘Green’ themed Artworks around the community

We are also delighted to report that following our last live Gig-Arts Event in Witney, the artworks created at the event are continuing to be displayed in local Care Homes. Images below show the manager of The Homestead residential Home in Carterton receiving the vibrant artworks of green trees that were made by our artists with dis-abilities. It is an honour and delight to be sharing the artworks in person as the covid restrictions have been lifted.
